Ah, the falling leaves of autumn. Summer is long gone. The days are shorter, the air is crisper, & the holidays are still far off.
Perfect timing to crush your health goals!
Here's a list of suggestions to help you stay the course.
1. Back to routine
One of the things that helps people lose weight is adhering to a routine. No vacations or holidays, so wekk in, week out, we can get into a certain rhythm of cooking, eating, sleeping, and working out. Ask yourself what tweaks to your routine can help you be more effective.
2. Make use of the outdoors.
Fall weather is the best - It's not too hot for running, and it's not too cold to keep you in bed in the morning. Weekends can be spent hiking, biking, playing ultimate frisbee, and generally being active outdoors.
3. More home cooking
Home cooked food is awesome now
Start your day with slow cooked oatmeal topped with fresh or frozen berries. Healthy stews & chilis can be nutritious & filling! Enjoy fresh, peak of season apples. Stock up on delicious squash, sweet potatoes, and turnips.
Soup season has officially started, and that means lots of tasty ways to fill your belly without going overboard on the calories.
4. Warm beveragesCooler weather is a great opportunity to brew your favorite tea - green, black, or white.
5. Get more sleep
As the days get shorter, it's easier for the body to get sleepy earlier in the evening. Try to get more shut-eye. Sleeping at least 7 hours a night is correlated with better overall health, and makes it easier to resist temptations the next day.
6. Say no to anything pumpkin spice.
It's just a marketing trick to get you to consume unhealthy calories!
